The blades feature 37 layers of stainless steel with a VG10 steel core, which guarantees superior edge retention. The new Boker Damascus Cuisine line is Boker's best in kitchen and gourmet cutlery. The ultimate in function and design. The world's two most famous cutlery centers are joining forces in this exquisite product line. The blades are being manufactured in Seki, Japan, while the shaping of the Makassa wood scales, assembly of the handles, and the final buffing, sharpening and inspection are all being done by Boker in Solingen, Germany. All by hand. The legendary Japanese art of forging Damascus swords lives on in these blades. The VG10 in the center of the blade offers extremely high cutting performance, with a 60 HRC. The stainless steel Damascus layers on both sides of the blade give each its own unique appearance and character. As individual as your fingerprint. The solid stainless steel bolster adds to the sturdiness, durability and balance of the knife. With over 135 years of experience, our Boker craftsmen hand-select matching Makassa wood pieces and hand-fit them to the full tang blades. The black fiber linings guarantee a dense and seamless fit of the wood between the bolsters and the tang. Over 20 skillful and lengthy hand operations of grinding, buffing and sharpening makes each piece a work of art.
